The Cell wall
Cell walls are important features of plant cells that perform many essential functions, including providing shape to the many different cell types needed to form the tissues and organs of a plant. Forming the combination between touching cells, plant cell walls
often play important roles in communication. Because of their surface location, plant cell walls play an important role in plant-particle interactions, including defense responses against potential dangers. Plant cell walls are usually divided into two categories: primary walls that surround cells capable of growth and secondary walls that are thickened structures containing lignin. In reality, all different cells contain walls with distinct layouts, resulting in a range of cell walls with primary and secondary walls as two extremes. On the whole, each cell's cell wall interacts with its neighbors to form a tightly bound plant structure. Despite the rigidity of the cell wall, chemical signals and original discharge are allowed to pass between cells. |
